One of the fastest ways to get into Canada is to apply through the Express Entry System. The average time for the application process is usually six months however it could be as low as four months. The programs that are under the Express Entry System are the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

Every province has at least one search tool for the express entry system, this search tool matches the system with applicants that suit the work that is tailored to the need of the Canadian government. The Expression Of Interest (EOI) invites applicants who meet the needs set out by the government and are asked to apply through the stream after which they might be given permanent residency.

Ontario has three streams for skilled workers who plan to work and relocate to Canada on a permanent basis.

  • Ontario Express Entry French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream;
  • Ontario Express Entry Human Capital Priorities;
  • Ontario Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream.

The Ontario Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream program seems to be really mild for applicants, just like the Ontario Express Entry Human Capital Priorities program it only requires the applicants to have at least one year of working experience and the work experience has to be under the guidelines of the NOC (National Occupation Classification) 633, 73, 73, or 82.

In addition to that, it only requires applicants to get a 5 in any English test, unlike others that set their cut-off marks at 6.5 or even higher than that. Also, it takes between 30-60 days to complete and the invitations into the program are over 6,600 with speculation that it will increase within the net two years.

The Ontario Express Entry Human Capital Priorities program is meant for those who are quite learned and went to a university and can qualify under the Canada Experience Class or Federal Skilled Worker Program, it requires one year of work experience that must be under the guidelines of the NOC (National Occupation Classification) but unlike the Ontario Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream program, you will need a cut-off mark of 7 for your English based test. The application process time is 30-60 days.

Ontario offers a series of visa options into Canada such as;

  • Ontario’s Express Entry French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream;
  • Entrepreneur Stream;
  • Corporate Stream;
  • Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker, International Student and In-Demand Skills streams;
  • Masters Graduate Stream;
  • Ph.D. Graduate Stream.

This is another province that has ease in accepting foreign nationals especially entrepreneurs. Foreign nationals looking to buy a business, expand a business, or own a business then this opportunity is for you. Options in this program are;

  • Business Research Supports;
  • Farm Investor Pathway Soft Launch;
  • Entrepreneur Pathway Soft Launch;
  • International Student Entrepreneur Pilot Soft Launch;
  • Business Start-Up Supports.

Although, do not give up hope if you are not an entrepreneur, given the fact that you are skilled you could apply under the Skilled Worker MPNP program provided you are working in a recognized profession you are also eligible to apply.

First things first, you will have to submit an Expression Of Interest (EOI) and then wait for a letter of invitation, the letter of invitation comes when you have been accepted due to your high score and meeting the eligibility requirements. Once this is done do note that you are to apply for your permanent residency to the Canadian government separately.

Documents Needed For Application Process

British Columbia

This province has a very large selection of visa options for skilled workers, students, and temporary workers and it is also one of the easiest provinces to secure a visa in. There are three programs under British Columbia and each of them lets you qualify even if you do not meet the requirements of one of the three federal programs under the Express Entry system.

In 2018, the three programs were formed in addition to its other Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) streams including the Entrepreneur Immigration Regional Pilot Program. This helps to make businesses grow and retain employees in Canada, this helps make the province look interesting enough for foreign nationals to apply and also makes it easier to process the applications as they have enough employees to do so.

The BC Entrepreneur Immigration Stream is the third part of the program, this is strictly for entrepreneurs who have enough net worth and is willing to invest in the province. This program also aids you to immigrate permanently with your family and you can later apply for Permanent Residence (PR) in BC.
